|
| When measuring for an Custom inside mounted or installed Plantation Shutter there
are three dimensions you have to take into consideration - width, height and depth. The information in this page will let you take the measurements so you enjoy your Custom Built Shutter Decor Shutters for your lifetime. |
| * Note: Remember to
use a steel tape measure and measure to the nearest 1/8" inch. Any and
all adjustments to your measurements will be taken at the factory - we
need the actual measurements you take. |
| First, does the window opening have enough depth to fit the frame and allow
for the shutter's louver to open and close? Using a metal tape, measure
the distance from whatever projects the furthest out from the window itself
to the front edge of window opening. Do not measure from the window glass
but from any handles, window locks, hand cranks(to open window), etc.. |
 |
- 2 1/2" inch louvers need a clearance of 2" inches to open and close properly
- 3 1/2" inch louvers need 2 1/2" inches of clearance
- 4 1/2" inch louvers need 3" inches of clearance

Secondly, you must measure the width and height of the window opening. Measure in three places, both for width and height, as many windows are not "square". In building terms a window is "out of square" when you measure in three places (for width - Left side, middle and right side of window) and one of the measurements are not the same. Use the smallest of the values when you order. |
| Measure for width - Left side, middle and right side of window |
| Measure for height - top, middle and bottom of window |
