Durability is the most important value of Plantation shutters made from hardwoods. Softwoods used for shutters like draperies, curtains and blinds will fail over time to normal wear and tear.
Maple has a fine, uniform texture, is resistant to abrasion and has no characteristic odor or taste. It is heavy, strong, stiff, hard, and resistant to shock. It stains well and takes a high polish.
To make premium shutters you have to use a hardwood like maple. We hand grade
and mill our woods at the factory, by people who enjoy working with wood and
that makes for a fantastic plantation shutter.
Shutters were one of the first attempts by man to cover their windows for warmth,
security and privacy. The look is clean and the design is functional. By opening
the louvers you can allow high light penetration. To change the amount of light
is as easy as adjusting the louvers to go from maximum light to almost full
blockage.
Can be ordered online as a full height or Cafe Shutter. Cafe shutters are great in the kitchen or sun room.
